Company Overview:

Maritime Launch Services is a Canadian-owned commercial space company based in Nova Scotia. Maritime Launch is developing Spaceport Nova Scotia, Canada’s first commercial orbital launch complex.

Role Overview:

As the Senior Project Manager, Construction, you will oversee the delivery of critical infrastructure to support the development and operational readiness of Spaceport Nova Scotia. From launch pad systems and command centers to logistics, utilities, and support facilities, you will manage all phases of project execution—ensuring work is completed safely, on time, and within budget.

This is a high-impact role that requires strong technical project management leadership, effective stakeholder coordination, and the ability to manage complex construction programs in a rural and highly regulated environment. You will play a key role in transitioning the spaceport from initial build-out to full launch readiness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the planning, design, and construction of infrastructure projects at the spaceport, including schedule, budget, and contractor management.
  • Manage multidisciplinary teams of subcontractors, consultants, internal staff, and regulatory partners to meet project goals.
  • Oversee procurement and logistics for specialized construction materials and equipment, ensuring optimal allocation of resources.
  • Coordinate project delivery with launch site operations, ensuring infrastructure timelines align with upcoming launch milestones.
  • Ensure construction activities comply with applicable codes, quality standards, and federal/provincial regulations.
  • Identify and manage risks to project success, including environmental, permitting, and site-specific challenges.
  • Serve as a primary liaison with engineering consultants, Indigenous and community partners, government agencies, and industry clients.
  • Manage RFPs, contract negotiations, and compliance with all contractual deliverables.
  • Enforce safety protocols and ensure a safe working environment across all construction activities.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience managing large-scale construction projects, including rural or industrial infrastructure builds
  • Proven track record in delivering complex, multidisciplinary projects on time and within budget
  • Strong leadership and team coordination skills, with the ability to foster collaboration across diverse stakeholders
  • Knowledge of Canadian building codes, environmental permitting, and federal/provincial construction standards
  • Demonstrated ability to manage schedules, budgets, and risk in high-compliance environments
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work on-site in Canso and travel between Halifax and project partner locations as required

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • PMP, P.Eng., or CCM designation
  • Experience working on aerospace, defence, or government infrastructure projects
  • Familiarity with rural project logistics and community engagement
  • Experience coordinating with Indigenous communities and applying principles of inclusive infrastructure development
  • Background in quality assurance, commissioning, and safety management systems

Additional Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel frequently between project locations, including Halifax and Canso
  • Ability to work extended hours and weekends during key construction milestones
  • Ability to work in industrial, outdoor environments and pass relevant background checks
