Maritime Launch Services and T-Minus Engineering Announce MISSION 03 with STORIES of Space
Inviting Canadians to Send Their Stories and Art to Space
STORIES of Space, a nonprofit organization dedicated to connecting people with exploration through storytelling, is proud to announce its upcoming MISSION 03 in partnership with Maritime Launch Services and T-Minus Engineering. This historic suborbital launch will carry original stories and student-designed mission patches aboard a T-Minus Engineering rocket, lifting off from Spaceport Nova Scotia, Canada’s first commercial spaceport, in October 2025.
Send a Story to Space
From now until October 20, 2025, Canadians of all ages are invited to submit original stories, poems, essays, or excerpts of published or in-progress works. Every submission will be stored on micro-SD cards and flown into space aboard the T-Minus suborbital rocket. This unique opportunity allows participants to proudly say: “I sent my story to space.”
Design the Mission Patch
In addition to written submissions, students across Canada are invited to design a Mission Patch—a creative emblem that reflects their vision of exploration, discovery, and Canada’s role in space. All submitted designs will also be flown aboard the MISSION 03 rocket, giving students a chance to make their artistic mark in space exploration.
Supporting Educators
To help classrooms engage with this opportunity, STORIES of Space has developed a free Educator’s Toolkit, available on the STORIES of Space website (www.storiesofspace.com). The toolkit includes:
- Mission details and launch background
- Information about the rocket and its partners
- Ready-to-use classroom activities
- Guidance for weaving this project into curriculum across grade levels
Educators can use the toolkit to incorporate the initiative as a classroom writing project, a collaborative activity with school clubs, or an individual opportunity for students, colleagues, and community members.
Expanding Access to Exploration
Since its inaugural MISSION 01, STORIES of Space has carried stories to the International Space Station, submerged them in underwater research habitats, and launched them into the upper atmosphere via weather balloons. With MISSION 03, the organization continues to expand access to exploration, ensuring voices from classrooms, communities, and individuals are part of humanity’s journey to the stars.
“Partnerships like these allow us to connect people more deeply to exploration,” said Beth Mund, Executive Director of STORIES of Space. “Because of the foundational and groundbreaking work from Maritime Launch and T-Minus Engineering, it is possible for people to send their voices, ideas, and imaginations into space. Every story and patch design connects us to this endeavor- reminding us that our own narrative helps shape our future in space.”
“At Maritime Launch, we are deeply committed to building Canada’s space launch capability in Nova Scotia, not only to strengthen Canada’s role in the global space sector, but to inspire the next generation,” said Sarah McLean, Vice President, Corporate Affairs for Maritime Launch Services. “By partnering with T-Minus Engineering and STORIES of Space on this mission, we want students of all ages across Canada to see themselves in this sector, to imagine their own place in space exploration, and to recognize that opportunities in science, technology, and innovation are within their reach. Stories and art carry the power to connect people to possibility, and this mission allows us to bring that message directly to students and communities in a very real way.”
How to Participate
- Submissions are free and open to all Canadians of any age.
- Written stories and mission patch designs must be uploaded through the STORIES of Space website: www.storiesofspace.com.
- The deadline for all submissions is October 20, 2025.
